Speed Bump Ahead

Nothing refreshes your inner spirit like going off the routine. Yes. Hit the snooze button, sleep in, skip the gym (OK at least not the first thing in the AM), enjoy a second cup of coffee and slowly let your inner spirit arise. 

I believe this is essential to my health and balance in life. It does not mean that I won't still go to the gym, do the grocery shopping for the week or the laundry that built up all week. It simply means I am taking it slow. REAL slow. No schedule, no routine. You know those speed bump ahead signs we always see in neighborhoods or driveways where they want drivers to slow down? That is what is needed for us to slow down as a society as a whole. A sign. A directive. Being deliberate in our action. Taking time to enjoy my home, the outdoors, my family and friends or sometimes just silence. 



Monday will be back soon enough with all its rituals, to-do lists and errand running. Getting off track in a deliberate way helps us be a better mom, dad, partner, sister, son, daughter and collegue. It allows us to settle our brains and expand our minds to think about what is important and what you really want at this very moment. And yes... many times it is an extra hour of sleep!
